Like all great love stories, ours began with low expectations and questionable decision-making.
It was a perfectly ordinary day when I (Kristina) was minding my own business, fully convinced that true love would arrive via takeout delivery… or not at all. Danny, meanwhile, was happily living his best independent life, completely unaware that fate was quietly lacing up its skates.
We first met in the most romantic place imaginable: the James Island Rec Center. Sparks did not immediately fly. In fact, our first interaction is best remembered for Danny saying something confusing while I smiled politely and mentally searched for the nearest exit.
But fate, it turns out, is persistent.
We kept running into each other—same place, same time, same conversations that started as small talk and somehow ended with “Wait… are you serious?” We discovered we shared the same sense of humor, strong opinions on important matters (like pizza toppings), and an inability to end a conversation without saying goodbye at least three times.
Our first “date” was very casual, very low-pressure, and absolutely not called a date. It lasted roughly six hours, included food, shots, beer pong, and ended with both of us thinking, Oh no. This might actually be a thing.
From there, things escalated quickly. “Just hanging out” turned into inside jokes, long conversations, and realizing we genuinely liked doing life side by side. We started working together, traveling together, and building something that felt steady, natural, and surprisingly easy. Along the way, we learned each other’s quirks, pet peeves, and very strong feelings about how the dishwasher should be loaded. Love grew anyway.
And then… the proposal.
At Christmastime, under the twinkling lights of Rockefeller Center, Danny asked the biggest question of all—on an ice skating rink, no less. It was magical, romantic, and straight out of a movie. There were happy tears, a very enthusiastic “YES,” and a brief blackout moment where we forgot what happened next because we were too busy being overwhelmed with joy.
Now here we are—getting married, still laughing, still choosing each other, and still amazed that one random moment turned into a lifetime.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you 🤍🥂
